Chemistry Nightclub
Chemistry Nightclub has been Greensboro's principal gay nightclub since 2012, at 2901 Spring Garden Street near UNC Greensboro. Drew Wofford, who got his start at Legends Nightclub and Flex Bar in Raleigh, has owned it from the start alongside Matt Cozzi. Its published calendar carries karaoke early in the week and drag on Friday and Saturday, and it is the deepest single run in this register: 1,267 dated events across 1,103 nights and 175 series, led by Icons Drag Dinner at 297 and College Night & Drag Show at 171. Of the 88 people credited here, 79 are drag records. The room runs its own pageant slate — Miss and Mr Chemistry Newcomer, Miss North Carolina Mardis Gras, Miss and Mr Nutcracker, Miss Out Greensboro — with Heidi N. Closet taking the first Newcomer title in 2018 and Saniya Chanel Iman the second in 2019. When the pandemic shut the room, Wofford put the cast on the street instead: a social-distanced tailgate show with Tia Chanella working the pavement and the neighbours watching from the kerb. Chemistry opened two years before Warehouse 29 closed on 31 May 2014, ending that venue's twenty-two years as the Triad's dance-club anchor, and the two rooms overlap in this register by exactly two performers — so what the record supports is a shared circuit rather than an inherited cast. Since June 2024 it has been a sister club to the Scorpio in Charlotte, under shared ownership.

What is known
Chemistry was opened by Matt Cozzi and Drew Wofford as business partners. [Triad City Beat] It was Cozzi's first gay venue. His previous fifteen years in bars and clubs, in Las Vegas, southern Florida and Raleigh, had all been in straight rooms. [Triad City Beat] Cozzi described Chemistry in 2016 as a high-energy, dressed-up room, in deliberate contrast to the neighbourhood-bar register of the Q. [Triad City Beat] Drew Wofford is named as the club's owner in May 2020. [Triad City Beat] That month, with the room unusable under pandemic restrictions, he staged an outdoor tailgate drag show at a house in Greensboro's Glenwood neighbourhood, produced with the club's drag performers. The street was the runway and the audience sat in lawn chairs spaced along both kerbs. [Triad City Beat] He framed it as a demonstration that the community could still gather safely rather than as a business event. [Triad City Beat] Tia Chanella performed, lip-synching Whitney Houston's cover of Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman" in a black satin dress with silver sequins and cape sleeves, walking from the porch stairs down into the street. [Triad City Beat] Giselle Cassidy Carter performed as Beyoncé, her stated muse, in a glittery gold bodysuit with yellow tassels closely replicating the 2018 Coachella costume, with two male dancers doing back flips.
